IRATA Level II
Level II IRATA Rope Access Training
The Level 2 IRATA rope access training is an intermediate-level course designed for experienced technicians looking to improve their skills and become available for more complex projects. This course is undertaken over five days, with a four-day training period followed by a one-day assessment. All training and testing occur under the supervision of an IRATA Level 3 technician. To become eligible for this course, applicants must:
- Have already passed IRATA Level 1 assessment within the previous three years
- Fully competent in all IRATA Level 1 techniques and capable of performing them regularly
- At least 1,000 working hours using rope access techniques, verified by an IRATA logbook
- Minimum of one year of experience as an IRATA Level 1 technician
SKILLS STUDENTS WILL LEARN:
This course aims to educate participants to operate the following rope access methods in a secure and proficient manner under the guidance of an IRATA Level 3 technician:
- Advanced rigging methods, including wide Y-hangs, tensioned lines, and pull-throughs
- Basic casualty retrieval hauling system methods
- Rescue techniques from ascent and aid-climb positions
- Rescues through most common maneuvers, such as rope-to-rope transfers, deviations and re-belays
- Rope access technique theories and implementation, which include calculating safe working loads, rigging angles and hauling ratios
ON THE JOB SITUATIONS
Students who complete this course will be prepared for the following job-related situations:
- Rigging working ropes, such as Y-hang, re-belay, rope-and-sling protection, deviation, pull-through, work restraint, horizontal and lifelines
- Safely perform rescues when in ascent, aid-climbing, past re-belay and past deviation positions
- Knowledge of relevant rope access legislation, safety requirements and quality assurance procedures
